Sighting the dilapidated and hazardous condition of the existing bell tower and despite financial obstacles, the Parish Priest together with the devotees of the Church initiated the required construction of the bell tower.

With the blessing of the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Tyronne Perera and the blessed hands of Sisters of Missionaries Charity Blessed Mother Theresa and Sisters of Carmel Sethpahana together with members of the Parish Council of Lunawa, the foundation stone of the new bell tower of the Lunawa Ss. Peter and Paul's Church was laid.
